Zigzag Headband – Another New Pattern!
Take a look at the cover of Knit Today, Issue 124. See that cute easy-peasy one ball headband with the zigzag pattern; that’s my latest hand knit design!
A First Lace Project
I set a simple zigzag lace stitch pattern into garter stitch to make an easy knit and a pretty headband. This will be perfect for keeping my hair out of my eyes whilst walking along a beach on a sunny, but breezy day.
Zigzag Headband Details
The zigzag headband measures 7.5 cm wide by 54 cm long.
The headband is knitted using 4.00 mm needles. Most of the headband is knitted in rows in the zigzag lace stitch; the last part is in rib. This makes the headband narrower and so more comfortable at the nape of the neck. The two ends are joined using mattress stitch and the join will be hidden by your hair.
The headband uses about 30 g of yarn: less than a ball.
The sample for Knit Today was knitted in Bamboo Cotton DK from King Cole. I knitted my original swatch in Cotton Glace, a 4 ply yarn, from Rowan Yarns.
If you want to knit this using a 4 ply yarn, choose knitting needles in a suitable size and follow the instructions in the pattern. You will need to work more rows of the lace pattern and your headband will be slightly narrower.
