One day modular knitting workshop

Have fun with modular knitting

Join knitwear designer Nicki Merrall at the Being Knitterly Studio for her Modular Knitting workshop.

Modular knitting (also known as mitred or domino knitting) is a fun technique in which you knit one module (or shape) at a time. Having knitted the first module, you pick up stitches from the previous module, so that each piece is joined as it is knitted. Nicki will show you how to knit a single mitred square in garter stitch, then how to pick up stitches and knit additional squares. The fun starts when you knit stripes; the decreases cause the stripes to form a corner rather than straight lines. Nicki will give you some helpful tips for choosing colours, as well as working in stripes.

  2. Diane (verified owner)

I can fully recommend this course. I am a relatively inexperienced knitter but Nicki explained the technique very patiently and supplied written instructions too. After a most enjoyable day, I came away with a very attractive sample and the ability and enthusiasm to try different effects at home.

Brilliant Diane, I’m looking forward to seeing what you make using modular knitting.
